Version 4.1.1 of the Metafields Guru browser extension for Chrome and Firefox fits Shopify's new admin layout and makes room for Sidekick and other side panels, so you can edit metafields right on the resource page without anything overlapping.

The Metafields Guru browser extension has been updated to version 4.1.1 for Chrome
and Firefox. It now fits Shopify's new admin layout, and it plays nicely with
Sidekick and other side panels that open on the right - the extension moves aside
instead of hiding behind them. Keep editing metafields right on the product, order, or
customer page, with Sidekick open next to it.

What's new at a glance

Fits Shopify's new admin - the extension panel now uses the full height of the page and
matches the new admin frame instead of leaving a gap for the old top bar.

Works side by side with Sidekick - when Sidekick or another right-side panel opens, the
extension moves aside instead of being covered by it.

Dropdowns stay in view - pickers and menus opened from the extension no longer slide
under a side panel.

A panel that fits the new admin

Shopify's new admin wraps page content in a rounded frame with a thin margin around it. The
browser extension
now follows that layout: its floating panel runs almost the full height of the window, with
rounded corners and a soft edge that line it up with Shopify's own frame, rather than starting
below a top bar that is no longer there.

The collapsed Metafields Guru tab on the right edge of the page got a refresh too - a
cleaner rounded button that sits flush against the edge and nudges out slightly on hover.

Room for Sidekick and other side panels

The new admin can open Sidekick and other panels on the right side of the screen, which
shrinks the main content area. Previously the extension was pinned to the very edge of the
browser window, so a side panel could cover it.

In version 4.1.1 the extension keeps track of where Shopify's main content area ends:

the open panel and the collapsed tab always sit at the edge of the main content, next to the
side panel, not underneath it;

when the side panel is opened, resized, or closed, the extension follows it automatically -
no page reload needed;

dropdowns, color pickers, and other pop-ups opened from inside the extension are positioned
so they don't end up hidden behind the side panel.

This works the same in Chrome and Firefox, on every resource page the extension supports.

FAQ

Yes. Starting with version 4.1.1, the extension panel and its collapsed tab follow the edge of
Shopify's main content area. When Sidekick or another side panel opens on the right, the
extension shifts left to sit next to it, and moves back when the panel closes. Dropdowns and
pickers opened from the extension are also kept clear of the side panel.

How do I update the browser extension to version 4.1.1?

Chrome, Firefox, and other Chromium-based browsers update extensions automatically, so in most
cases you do not need to do anything. To check your version, open the extensions page of your
browser (for example
chrome://extensions
or
about:addons
) and look at Metafields Guru. If
you have not installed the extension yet, get it from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons.

Version 4.1.1 is available for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. The Chrome Web Store version
also works in other Chromium-based browsers such as Edge, Opera, Brave, and Vivaldi.

Try it

Open any product, collection, customer, or order in your Shopify admin and click the
Metafields Guru tab on the right edge of the page - then open Sidekick and watch the
extension make room for it. Don't have the extension yet? Install it for

Metaobject fields that use Shopify's standardized product attributes now show real, readable names and color swatches instead of confusing ID codes.

Editing a metaobject entry that uses one of Shopify's standardized product attributes -
fields like Base color, Age group, or Fit - used to mean staring at a meaningless code instead
of an actual value. Not anymore: those fields now show the real, readable name, and a color
swatch whenever the attribute is a color, so you can pick "Beige" by seeing it, not by guessing
from an ID.

What's new at a glance

Readable names, not raw IDs - metaobject fields built on Shopify's standardized product
attributes (Base color, Age group, Fit, and similar) now show the actual name instead of a
meaningless code.

Color swatches, not guesswork - color-based attributes show a small swatch next to every
choice, so you can see the shade instead of reading a name and hoping.

Why raw taxonomy IDs were a problem

Shopify's standardized product attributes - the ones behind fields like Base color, Age group,
or Target gender - store their values as internal ID codes, not plain text. Before this update,
editing one of these fields in a metaobject entry meant looking at a string like

gid://shopify/TaxonomyValue/...
, with no way to tell it meant "Beige" and not "Khaki" without
leaving the app.

Readable names and color pickers

Opening one of these fields on a metaobject entry now opens a proper picker instead of a raw ID.
The activator itself shows the currently selected value's name and, for color attributes, its
swatch - so you can see what's selected without opening anything.

Color attributes get a small swatch next to every option, not just the selected one, so you can
visually confirm a shade before picking it instead of guessing from the name alone.

It works the same way when a field accepts more than one value - you can add and remove entries
just like any other list field in the app.

Also worth knowing: multiline text fields already get a full visual editor

Not part of this update, but worth mentioning since it applies to metaobjects too: Shopify's own
metaobject editor treats multiline text fields as a plain textarea, with no formatting at all.
Metafields Guru's editor goes well beyond bold and lists - it handles images, tables, and even
embedded YouTube videos, right inside the field, no HTML required.

FAQ

What is a product_taxonomy_value_reference metafield field?

A
product_taxonomy_value_reference
field stores a reference to one entry in Shopify's built-in
product taxonomy - the same taxonomy behind standardized attributes like Color, Age group, or
Target gender. Metaobject definitions that represent a standardized attribute use this type for
the field that holds the actual value.
list.product_taxonomy_value_reference
is the same thing
for fields that accept more than one value.

Why did my metaobject fields show random IDs before?

Metafields Guru didn't previously resolve these fields to their taxonomy values, so it displayed
the raw stored ID instead of a name. That's fixed now: the field resolves to its real name, and
color where one exists, automatically.

Does the picker show every possible taxonomy value?

No. It only lists values that are actually valid for that field's attribute - a "Base color"
field only shows color values, an "Age group" field only shows age-group values, and so on.

Does this work for fields that hold more than one value?

Yes. Fields defined with
list.product_taxonomy_value_reference
let you add and remove multiple
taxonomy values on the same metaobject entry, the same way any other list field works in the
app.

Is the visual editor for multiline text fields new?

No - it's the same visual editor Metafields Guru already uses for multiline text fields
everywhere, including on metaobject entries. It supports formatting, images, tables, and
embedded video, not just bold text, unlike Shopify's own metaobject editor, which only offers a
plain textarea.

manual namespace, key, or type entry.

Real Shopify definitions - once enabled, a standard field is a normal metafield
definition, visible in Shopify admin and usable across the whole Metafields Guru toolset.

Already-enabled fields are hidden automatically, so the list only ever shows what you can
still add.

What are Shopify's standard metafield definitions?

Shopify reserves a set of namespace/key pairs for common, well-known pieces of product and
store data - things like a product's care guide, its UPC / EAN / ISBN code, its
rating, or a list of related products. Shopify publishes the full, up-to-date list in
its own list of standard metafield definitions.

Each standard definition ships with a fixed name, namespace and key, type, and
description already decided by Shopify - you don't design the schema, you just turn the
field on. Because the meaning of
reviews.rating
or
custom.care_guide
-equivalent standard
keys is the same on every store that enables them, apps, sales channels, and theme
integrations that read structured product data can rely on them without any store-specific
configuration.

Standard fields are grouped by category - Descriptors (care guide, product subtitle),
Facts (EAN, ISBN, UPC), Import Information (transport declaration, trade item
description), Shopify Discovery groups for product recommendations and search boosting,
and more. The exact list Shopify offers depends on the resource - products, variants,
collections, and other owner types each have their own set.

Why enable standard metafields

Interoperability - a standard field is understood the same way by any app, sales
channel, or theme that was built to read it, since the namespace and key are reserved by
Shopify rather than invented per-store.

No schema design - the type, validation, and description are already set correctly, so
there is nothing to get wrong when setting one up.

Structured, machine-readable data - product ratings, GTINs (UPC/EAN/ISBN), and similar
standard fields give search engines, shopping feeds, and AI shopping agents a consistent way
to read facts about your products, instead of guessing from unstructured description text.

Works everywhere your other metafields work - once enabled, a standard field behaves
exactly like any other definition inside Metafields Guru.

Metafields Guru now supports every Shopify measurement type, order reference metafields (single and list), and the language metafield type - across the metafields editor, the Excel-like editor, the bulk editor, CSV import/export, and metafield sets.

Metafields Guru now supports three more families of Shopify metafield types end to end: the
complete measurement family (every unit type Shopify offers, not just weight, dimension,
and volume), order reference metafields (single values and lists), and the language
metafield type. Every one of them works across the metafields editor, the Excel-like editor,
the bulk editor, CSV import/export, metafield sets, and the browser extension - and the
measurement and
language
types also render on the storefront through the Text / HTML theme
blocks.

Every Shopify measurement type - not just weight, dimension, and volume, but the full
set (area, power, duration, temperature, voltage, pressure, frequency, and more), each with
its own unit selector and a
list.*
variant.

Order reference - link a resource to a Shopify order as a single value
(
order_reference
) or an ordered list (
list.order_reference
).

Language - store a valid Shopify language with the
language
type (single value).

Available everywhere - the metafields editor, the Excel-like editor, the bulk editor,
CSV import/export, metafield sets, and the browser extension. The measurement types and

language
also render on the storefront via the Text / HTML and Variant Text / HTML theme

The complete measurement type family

Shopify's measurement metafield types store a number together with a unit -
2.5 kg
,

40 W
,
12 h
. Until now Metafields Guru let you edit the three common ones: weight,
dimension, and volume. You can now create and edit every measurement type Shopify
supports:

Weight, Volume, Dimension, Antenna gain, Area, Battery charge capacity, Battery energy
capacity, Capacitance, Concentration, Data storage capacity, Data transfer rate, Display
density, Distance, Duration, Electric current, Electrical resistance, Energy, Frequency,
Illuminance, Inductance, Luminous flux, Mass flow rate, Power, Pressure, Resolution,
Rotational speed, Sound level, Speed, Temperature, Thermal power, Voltage, and Volumetric
flow rate.

Each measurement type also has a list variant -
list.weight
,
list.power
,

list.temperature
, and so on - for storing several measurements in one metafield. In every
editor the value field pairs a number input with a unit selector scoped to that type, so you
choose
kg
/
g
/
lb
/
oz
for weight,
A
/
mA
for electric current,
GHz
/
MHz

for frequency, and so on.

Order reference metafields

An order reference metafield links a resource to a Shopify order. It comes in two shapes:

order_reference
- a single linked order

list.order_reference
- an ordered list of linked orders

You pick orders through a searchable order picker in every editor. Because orders are
protected customer data, the app needs the Orders access scope; if it has not been
granted, the editor shows a hint explaining how to enable it instead of the picker.

The language metafield type

The language metafield type stores a single language from Shopify's supported language
list. Editors render it as a searchable language picker rather than a free-text box, so
values stay valid. It is a single-value type - there is no
list.language
.

Typical uses: recording the authoring language of a product's content, flagging translation
status, or driving language-specific storefront logic.

Yes. Every measurement type has a list variant (for example
list.weight
or
list.power
),
and order references support
list.order_reference
. You can append and remove list items in

Metafields Guru's April 2025 update reworks the WYSIWYG HTML editor around Shopify Files - with a reusable image picker, responsive images, and custom attribute support - adds an editor pinning feature, and brings metafield-based filters to customers and pages.

In April 2025, Metafields Guru shipped a major refresh of its HTML editor and added new
filtering options across the app. Images pasted into the WYSIWYG HTML editor now upload
straight to Shopify Files instead of living inside the metafield value, editors gained a
pin-to-screen mode, and customers and pages picked up the same metafield-based filters
that products and collections already had.

Shopify Files-backed image uploads - images pasted into the HTML editor now upload to
Shopify Files instead of living inside the metafield value.

Reuse existing Shopify Files - a new image picker lets you insert files you already
uploaded, no re-uploading.

Responsive images and layout control - inserted images ship with
srcset
automatically
and get simple size/alignment controls.

Custom HTML attributes survive editing - custom classes and attributes on your markup are
no longer stripped out.

Editor pinning - HTML, JSON, and Rich Text editors can now be pinned open at full height
while you work.

New filters for customers and pages - metafield-based filtering, previously available for
products and collections, now covers customers and pages too.

We're excited to share a fresh round of updates that elevate your experience when editing
metafields and working with filters in the app.

Our HTML editor just got a massive upgrade — a seamless integration into Shopify's file system:

Image uploads reworked: Images are now automatically uploaded to Shopify Files instead of
being stored directly in the metafield content. This improves performance and helps fit large
texts with images into Shopify's limits.

Choose from existing Shopify Files: A new image picker lets you reuse previously uploaded
files with a couple of clicks.

Responsive images out of the box: Every image added to your content includes optimized

srcset
attributes for better performance on different devices.

New image layout options: Easily adjust image size and alignment within the editor.

Custom attributes support: You can now safely include custom styles,
class
names, and
other custom attributes — they will no longer be stripped out when editing.

Improved link management: Create links that open in a new tab, or mark them as
downloadable using the
download
attribute.

Better video embedding: Expanded support for external video platforms, including full
compatibility with YouTube Shorts.

Editor pinning

There's no such thing as too much focus when writing an important text for your customers. The
HTML, JSON, and Rich Text editors now include a Pin feature. Pinned editors stay maximized and
locked to the screen height, giving you more space to work and making it easier to find the
input when working with multiple browser tabs.

Metafield-based filtering continues to evolve! With the latest Shopify API improvements, you can

The HTML editor was integrated with Shopify Files: pasted or uploaded images now go to Shopify
Files instead of being embedded in the metafield value, a new picker lets you reuse files you
already uploaded, images get responsive
srcset
attributes automatically, you get new
size/alignment layout options, and custom attributes (styles, class names) on your markup are
preserved instead of being stripped. Link management and video embedding (including YouTube
Shorts) were also improved, and the HTML, JSON, and Rich Text editors gained a Pin feature.

Where do images go when I paste them into the HTML editor now?

Images are automatically uploaded to Shopify Files rather than stored directly inside the
metafield's HTML content. This keeps large texts with images within Shopify's content size
limits and improves performance.

Can I reuse an image I already uploaded to Shopify Files?

Yes. The HTML editor's image picker lets you choose from files already uploaded to your store's
Shopify Files in a couple of clicks, instead of uploading the same image again.

What does the editor Pin feature do?

Pinning keeps the HTML, JSON, or Rich Text editor maximized and locked to the screen height
while you work, so the input stays easy to find and edit even when you have multiple browser
tabs open.

Which resources can I filter by metafields in Metafields Guru?

As of the April 2025 update, metafield-based filtering covers customers and pages in addition to
products and collections, taking advantage of Shopify's API improvements to enable more precise
workflows across the store.

Metafields Guru's March 2024 update introduces theme extensions for displaying metafields on your storefront, upgrades export/import for cross-store data migration with external file uploads to Shopify's storage, and adds configurable default units for dimension and volume metafields.

In March 2024, Metafields Guru introduced theme extensions - ready-made storefront blocks
for displaying metafield values without writing Liquid. The same release upgraded the
export/import feature to support metafield data migration between stores, including reference
metafields and external file uploads to Shopify's storage, and added the ability to convert
plain string values for complex types like volume and dimensions into proper JSON objects.

Theme extensions - display metafields on your storefront via ready-made blocks, no Liquid
required.

Cross-store data migration - export/import now moves metafields, including references,
between stores and can upload external files to Shopify's storage.

Type conversion on import - plain string values for volume/dimensions can now be converted
into proper JSON objects.

Configurable default units - set default units for dimensions and volume metafield types
in app settings.

Please see the short video below to learn how this feature helps build a better storefront.

The next improvement brought our bulk editing features to another level. Not only does our
export/import feature support data migration between stores (including the reference
metafields), but it can also upload external files to Shopify's storage. In addition, now our
app can convert plain string values for complex types like volume and dimensions into proper
JSON objects.

copy-paste support for the spreadsheet tools merchants already use - Google Docs, Excel,

Metafields Guru's February 2023 update ships a browser extension rebuilt from scratch - with support for product variants, pages, blogs, and posts, a new floating view mode, list-type metafields, and a modernized editor for every metafield type.

In February 2023, Metafields Guru shipped a browser extension rebuilt from scratch - none of
the previous generation's code carried over. It adds support for more resource types, a new
floating view mode, list-type metafields, and a modernized editor across the board. Here's a
rundown of the most notable changes.

What's new at a glance

Rebuilt from scratch - a completely new browser extension codebase, sharing none of the
previous generation's code.

New resources supported - product variants, pages, blogs, and posts.

Choice of view mode - embedded in the Shopify admin panel or a floating collapsible block,
with reorderable navigation tabs.

List metafield types supported, alongside a modernized editor for every metafield type.

Free on trial and development stores - no charge for stores on a Shopify trial or
development plan.

New browser extension

Yep, the old one was great, but perfection knows no limits. And that's why we created a new
browser extension from scratch. We used literally 0% of the code from the previous generation,
so it's not an exaggeration. It's nearly impossible to list all the changes in this
announcement, but we guarantee it will enhance your Metafields Guru experience. Let's have a
brief overview of the most notable ones, though.

New resources supported, such as product variants, pages, blogs, and posts.

Select the preferred view mode. The editor can be embedded directly in your Shopify admin
panel or presented as a floating collapsible block. For even greater configurability, you can
reorder the navigation tabs as you wish.

We added support for the "list"
metafield types. Speaking of which, we've also modernized the editor for all supported
metafield types. And, of course, added tons of performance and usability upgrades. Also, it
looks and feels better :)

Again, fitting all the details in a short message is quite a challenge, so using the browser
extension is the best way to experience all the good stuff from this update. Especially now
that all stores operating under trial
or development Shopify plans can use
the browser extension free of charge ;)

Notable changes include support for new resources (product variants, pages, blogs, posts), a

Metafields Guru adds a Shopify Flow "Update metafield" action that supports every metafield type, full support for Shopify's metafield lists, and a full-screen mode for the Excel-like editor.

In July 2022, Metafields Guru added a Shopify Flow integration for automating metafield
updates, full support for Shopify's metafield lists, and a full-screen mode for the
Excel-like editor. Here's what each of these means for your workflow.

What's new at a glance

Shopify Flow "Update metafield" action - build no-code automations that update any
metafield type when a trigger fires in your store.

Available on Shopify Plus, Advanced, and Shopify plans, or stores on the Shopify
Fulfillment Network - matching Shopify Flow's own plan requirements.

Full support for metafield lists - store and manage multiple values in a single
metafield.

Full-screen mode for the Excel-like editor.

Shopify Flow integration

Shopify Flow is a tool for configuring automated tasks in your Shopify admin panel. No coding or development skills required. Use a visual builder to add triggers, conditions and actions logic to create your own workflow — like creating a metafield. Unlike the default Shopify Flow actions, our custom actions support all metafield types.

Sounds great, but it does have some limitations. Shopify Flow is available only for stores subscribed to the Shopify Plus, Advanced, or Shopify plans or those that use the Shopify Fulfillment Network.

Metafield lists support

We support all existing metafield lists. They allow merchants to store multiple values in a single metafield. This comes in handy for those who utilize the most of their Shopify store. Managing custom upsell/cross sell products, selecting multiple file for downloads or image sliders has never been more convenient.

Full-screen mode for the Excel-like editor

The last, but not the least important: we've implemented full-screen mode for Excel-like editor.

It adds a custom "Update metafield" action to Shopify Flow, so you can build no-code automations - with triggers, conditions, and actions - that update a metafield when something happens in your store. Unlike the default Shopify Flow actions, this custom action supports all metafield types.

Metafields Guru's March 2022 update introduces the Excel-like editor - a spreadsheet-style way to bulk-edit metafields across multiple products - and Sandbox mode, which unlocks advanced features for free on development, trial, and partner test stores.

In March 2022, Metafields Guru introduced the Excel-like editor, a spreadsheet-style way to
edit metafields for multiple products on a single page, and Sandbox mode, which unlocks
advanced features for free on development, trial, and partner test stores. Here's what each one
does and why they matter if you manage metafields at scale.

Sandbox mode - unlimited free access to advanced features (Excel-like editor, browser

Sandbox mode ends on upgrade - switching to a paid Shopify plan disables Sandbox mode until
you upgrade your Metafields Guru subscription.

Meet the all-new Excel-like editor

It's time to introduce the new feature designed to turn your hard work into a "not-so-hard"
work. Meet the all-new Excel-like editor!

We believe that this feature will come handy for those of you who prefer to manage the data with
the spreadsheets. No need to hassle with multiple spreadsheets and data exports/imports, simply
edit all the data in one place. Sounds great, right?

Even if you are completely new to spreadsheets, there is literally nothing to worry about as
this feature is intuitive and user friendly, which makes it really easy to use. Basically, it's
a visual editor that helps you to edit metafields for multiple products on the same page. You
can configure the list of metafields to be displayed/edited: select from either metafield sets,
Shopify metafield definitions or simply add a bunch of custom metafields — it's up to you to
decide.

Sandbox mode

We constantly improve our app by introducing new features. It takes lots of time and effort to
develop and maintain the infrastructure behind these features, so they are available only in
our advanced plans. However, due to the restrictions of Shopify payment system, only
paid Shopify stores can upgrade third-party apps subscriptions. To overcome this limitation and
make the advanced features available for development, trial and partner test stores we're
introducing the Sandbox mode.

The Sandbox mode grants you unlimited access to multiple advanced features as long as you don't
switch to a paid Shopify plan:

Excel-like editor

Metafield sets

Once you switch to a paid Shopify, the Sandbox mode will be disabled and you'll need to upgrade
your Metafields Guru subscription to keep using these features.

FAQ

What is the Excel-like editor in Metafields Guru?

The Excel-like editor is a spreadsheet-style visual editor that lets you edit metafields for
multiple products on the same page, without juggling separate spreadsheet exports and imports.
You choose which metafields appear as columns - from metafield sets, Shopify metafield
definitions, or custom metafields you add yourself.

Sandbox mode gives development, trial, and partner test stores unlimited access to advanced
features - the Excel-like editor, the browser extension, and metafield sets - without needing a
paid Metafields Guru plan, since Shopify's payment system only allows paid stores to upgrade
third-party app subscriptions.

The Excel-like editor is part of Metafields Guru's advanced plans; development, trial, and
partner test stores can use it for free instead via Sandbox mode.

In October 2021, Metafields Guru became compatible with Shopify's Online Store 2.0, the
platform update that redesigned metafields from 3 basic types into 18 structured types. This
update covers what changed for merchants and theme developers: the new metafield types, Shopify's
new metafield definitions (and their limits), and the API/Liquid changes developers need to know
about.

API and Liquid updates - REST, GraphQL, Storefront APIs, and Shopify Liquid were all

Big news from Metafields Guru team: we're thrilled to announce that our app is now compatible with Online Store 2.0

Let's see what it means for both Shopify merchants and theme developers.

New metafield types

There used to be 3 metafield types:

string

integer

json_string

Now that Shopify has totally redesigned metafields, we have 18 different types:

Single line text

Multi-line text

Page reference

Product reference

Variant reference

File reference

Integer

Decimal

Date

Date and time

URL

JSON string

Boolean

Color

Weight

Volume

Dimension

Rating

Metafields definitions

Recently introduced by Shopify, metafield definitions act as templates that specify what part of your store a metafield applies to and what values the metafield can have. Before you can add metafield values to specific products, orders, or other parts of your store, you first need to add the metafield definition for that information. Adding metafield definitions ensures that the same validation rules apply to every value that you enter for a specific metafield.

Sounds great, however, there are some drawbacks:

merchants can only have up to 10 pinned metafield definitions

the total number of Shopify metafield definitions is limited to 100.

Luckily, you can get more control over metafields and edit data with no limits using our metafield sets. Yet another cool thing about metafield sets is that they support Shopify metafield definitions too! Which is great as it helps to remove the 10 pinned metafields limit.

You may want to make sure that your theme is Online Store 2.0 compatible prior to switching to new metafield types. The best way to learn whether your theme is Online Store 2.0 compatible or not is to reach out to your theme developer and ask them directly.

What's new for developers?

REST, GraphQL and storefront APIs were updated to match the recent changes in metafield object.

Shopify Liquid was updated too, which means that you would need to update the code you have created for your clients in order to make their stores OS 2.0 compatible.

In July 2021, Metafields Guru introduced metafield sets - a way to configure a group of
metafields once and apply it across many products at once, instead of creating each metafield
one product at a time. The same update also shipped a rebuilt version of the browser
extension with a new WYSIWYG editor and metafield sets support.

Available for our advanced plans, metafield set is a feature that allows you create groups of metafields to be applied to all the entities of a specific resource type; let's say to all products.

Or you can create a set for a filtered selection: for products of a specific vendor, products of a certain product type or products with a specific tag.

Instead of creating numerous metafields for each product one-by-one, you can now configure a metafield set once and add values to products as needed. Not only it saves time, but also eliminates the need to hassle with the technical details like metafield namespace, key, value type - populate the value, save changes and that's it!

Choose from an extensive list of field types to configure your metafield sets perfectly:

Plain Text - a basic text field with no HTML support. Customizable value autocomplete included.

HTML - an advanced text field with full HTML support and WYSIWYG (visual) editor available.

Integer - a number that can be written without a fractional component.

Float (decimal) - a number whose fractional part is separated by a decimal point (or comma).

JSON - a standard text-based format for representing structured data.

Select - allows merchants choose one option from an options menu.

Multiselect - allows merchants choose multiple options from an options menu.

Boolean - a form of data with only two possible values ("yes/no", "1/0", "true/false" etc).

A metafield set is a feature, available on advanced plans, that lets you create a group of metafields and apply it to all entities of a specific resource type - for example all products - instead of creating each metafield one product at a time.

Yes. You can create a set for a filtered selection of products - by a specific vendor, a certain product type, or a specific tag - instead of applying it to your entire catalog.

Plain Text, HTML (with a WYSIWYG visual editor), Integer, Float (decimal), JSON, Select, Multiselect, and Boolean.
