In February 2023, Metafields Guru shipped a browser extension rebuilt from scratch - none of the previous generation's code carried over. It adds support for more resource types, a new floating view mode, list-type metafields, and a modernized editor across the board. Here's a rundown of the most notable changes.
In July 2022, Metafields Guru added a Shopify Flow integration for automating metafield updates, full support for Shopify's metafield lists, and a full-screen mode for the Excel-like editor. Here's what each of these means for your workflow.
In March 2022, Metafields Guru introduced the Excel-like editor, a spreadsheet-style way to edit metafields for multiple products on a single page, and Sandbox mode, which unlocks advanced features for free on development, trial, and partner test stores. In October 2021, Metafields Guru became compatible with Shopify's Online Store 2.0, the platform update that redesigned metafields from 3 basic types into 18 structured types. This update covers what changed for merchants and theme developers: the new metafield types, Shopify's new metafield definitions (and their limits), and the API/Liquid changes developers need to know about.
In July 2021, Metafields Guru introduced metafield sets - a way to configure a group of metafields once and apply it across many products at once, instead of creating each metafield one product at a time. The same update also shipped a rebuilt version of the browser extension with a new WYSIWYG editor and metafield sets support.
